*Please note: Due to South Shore Public Libraries’ preparation work and repairs in progress, the building will not be open to the public for another approx. 6-8 weeks. Public access for Commission business will therefore be BY APPOINTMENT ONLY until the Zoé Vallé Memorial Library can safely re-open.

2025-03-23 Committee of the Whole (Budget)

The Village Commission is holding a Committee of the Whole meeting on Monday, March 23, 2026 at 2:00 pm. The meeting agenda(125 KB) is now available.

This is the first working session of annual budget deliberations and will be held in-person only at 63 Regent Street. Budget discussions will take place over several such meetings, then the final Draft 2026/27 Village Budget will be brought forward to a Commission Meeting for consideration of approval. The public is welcome to attend. 

*Please note: 63 Regent Street has a temporary access permit only while the entrances are under repair, so please use caution coming into the building. The Library will fully re-open to the public later this spring.

2026-03-18 Monthly Village Commission Meeting

The Chester Village Commission's March Monthly Meeting agenda(165 KB)  and agenda package(7.98 MB)  are now available. 

Items of interest to the public include: the Chester Fire Services Committee's final draft of the 2026/27 Fire & Emergency Services Budget for approval, and a proposed plan for a Beautification & Revitalization project with the Municipality of the District of Chester. 

The meeting will be held in-person at the Village office (27 Pleasant Street) and online at 6:00 pm. The public is welcome to join us!

Zoé Vallé Memorial Library FAQ

The Village of Chester is honoured to take on the guardianship of a jewel of our community: the Zoé Vallé Memorial Library. The Village Commission will fully implement the requirements of the 1928 Warranty Deed to operate a community library and civic centre, and ensure its operations are sustainable for the future, long after those of us involved today are gone.

The Chester Village Commission is holding a Special Meeting this Wednesday afternoon. The meeting agenda(154 KB) is now available.

The meeting will be held in-person at the Village office (27 Pleasant Street) only. This is primarily an in-camera meeting to consider contract negotiations and legal advice, so will not be livestreamed.

The Chester Village Commission's January Monthly Meeting agenda(140 KB) and agenda package(4.94 MB) are now available. *PLEASE NOTE that this month the meeting is taking place on Thursday, January 22nd,   rather than the regular third Wednesday.

Items of interest to the public include: a report on the Village Commission's reply to the Zoe Valle Memorial Library call for submissions (with a copy of its Proposal(1.25 MB) , previously shared by the Municipality); the 2025/26 Q3 Budget Variance report; and a working draft of the 2026/27 Chester Fire Services Committee's Budgets.
