2023/24 Community Grants Awarded

The objective of the Village's Grants program is to support activities of non-profit organizations that advertise opportunities for the Village of Chester and its residents to grow, flourish, and prosper and encourage tourism growth.

Community Grant requests were well in excess of the available funding this year; an encouraging sign of activity in the community! The Commission was happy to see the increased interest in the program.

The following grants have been awarded for 2023/24:

• Chester Municipal Heritage Society: $3,000
• Chester Art Centre - Summer Festival: $2,500
• Chester Playhouse - Public Re-opening: $2,500
• Chester Merchants Assoc - Village Christmas: $1,000
• Chester Yacht Club - Race Week: $500

Thank you to all the applicants for your support of Chester Village.

Next year: The deadline to apply for a 2024/25 Community Grant is April 1, 2024. For more information and an application, see the Grants Policy(182 KB) .

2023 Election CANCELLED

As announced last month, there is one Village Commissioner seat to be filled for a three-year term 2023-2026. While there were initially two candidates for the position, one has withdrawn his candidacy.

Congratulations to Gloria Nauss on her election by acclamation.

The 2023 Election, scheduled for June 13th, is hereby CANCELLED.

Summer Compost Collection 2024

Green bins (organics) EXTRA WEEKLY pick-ups for 2024:

• start June 16th, 2024
• end Sept 14th, 2024

Please have your bins at curbside by 7:00 am on your collection day.
Green bins can be lined with paper only, no plastic.
